The pledge, signed by QPL Managing Director Frank Thiel on 16 August 2017, is a commitment to ethical business practices and good corporate governance. It acknowledges the companies' responsibility to lead by example in the fight against corruption and to operate their businesses ethically and with integrity. "While the government has its own initiatives for reducing corruption, we realize that those initiatives cannot succeed without individual and collective commitment from businesses to level the playing field and to build integrity in the business environment," the pledge states. Included in the companies' commitments are to: (1) prohibit bribery in any form; (2) maintain a Code of Conduct; (3) conduct training programs to promote integrity and accountability; and (4) implement internal systems and control.
