Frank Thiel

Mr. Frank Thiel currently serves as Managing Director of Quezon Power (Philippines), Limited Co. (QPL) with the primary responsibility of maintaining the profitability of the company’s 460MW coal-fired power project in Mauban, Quezon.

 

Mr. Thiel is also the General Manager for the San Buenaventura Power Ltd. Co. (SBPL), a new 500MW supercritical coal-fired plant located also in Mauban, Quezon.

 

As part of his responsibilities, Mr. Thiel also manages contracts, financial, commercial, and regulatory activities related to the power project.

 

Prior to his appointment as Managing Director for QPL in 2012, Mr. Thiel served as Vice President and Regional General Manager for InterGen Services Inc.’s Mexico unit where he was responsible for the day-to-day management of the 1,100MW La Rosita Power Project, 271MW Chihuahua Power Project, 252MW Campeche Power Project, and 51% of the 600MW Bajio Power Project.

 

Mr. Thiel also worked as InterGen’s Vice President for operation and maintenance in the Asia Pacific Region, United Kingdom, Netherlands, Turkey and Egypt operating plants.

 

As InterGen’s Vice President for Operations and Maintenance – Asia Pacific, Mr. Thiel served as General Manager for QPL from 2004 to 2009.

 

Mr. Thiel also served as InterGen’s Vice President for Engineering and Construction – Asia Pacific from 1998 to 2002, taking over all project engineering, construction, and operation activities related to InterGen’s assets in the region.

 

Before joining InterGen, Mr. Thiel held positions with Westinghouse Electric Power Corporation, Bechtel Power Corporation and Marine Pacific of California.

 

Mr. Thiel holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from the California Coast University, Bachelor of Arts degree in Human Resources degree at the University of San Francisco, and an Associate degree in Engineering Technology from the Pasadena City College. He is a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.
